KRDS 105.3FM and 1190AM has ceased playing AC/CCM format and has changed to a satellite-fed secular AC Pop simulcast on both AM/FM. KRDS began its Christian format back in the early '70s and became one of the nation's first commercial contemporary Christian formats. Over the years, many great Christian personalitiesJhave worked for KRDS, leaving a great many memories for the CCM industry in the greater Phoenix area. With the 50,000-watt KLOVE non-commercial FM Christian adult contemporary coming on last year, as well as Q96 AM (the old KOOL oldies) picking up a ministries/talk format, KRDS's 6,000-or-so watt signal could barely keep the listeners tuned in. A short stint with a Christian hit format was tried, but the cost of a full crew of announcers and staff caused the owners to opt for a satellite feed. God bless Gary Isabel and all the jocks. -- Patrick & Celia Nicolello |
