Carolyn Arends, Audio Adrenaline, S.C. Chapman rock Virginia

The Virginia Amphitheater in Virginia Beach rocked like never before when Carolyn Arends, Audio Adrenaline and Steven Curtis Chapman performed on April 26.

Carolyn Arends came out first and opened the night with a blast! The crowd clapped their approval, but was greatly disappointed that she was losing her voice. She gave it her best shot, though, by singing three of her favorites before leaving the stage.

Next, the alternative rock band Audio Adrenaline really started rocking the amphitheater with most of the songs from their latest album, "Bloom," starting with the hit "Secret." The group's new guitar player, who took over for Barry, had some pretty big shoes to fill, due to the band's frequent guitar solos, but he did a great job.

As usual, Audio Adrenaline's live performance was absolutely awesome because the musicians went out of their way to keep the audience interested and to share their experiences with Jesus. One of the most impressive things about the group is their attitude, which makes it clear that they are humble people who not only love their Lord, but acknowledge their dependance on Him. They made that point when they played songs like "Never Gonna Be As Big As Jesus," "Walk On Water" and "I'm Not The King." The lyrics bear out the message that God is great and powerful, and the group need him to survive. After their concert, the band came out to meet and talk with their fans.

Finally, Steven Curtis Chapman came on stage, and the crowd really roared their approval. After his first song, Steve invited all the people who bought lawn tickets to come fill any empty seats in the pavilion. Steve played through a large selection of his hits, both old and new -- talking to the crowd between songs and telling anecdotes about his wife, daughter and life on the road.
