Bryan Duncan Reflects on Phil Keaggy

Phil KeaggyPhil Keaggy has been my friend for longer than any other recording artist. We hit it off immediately with short-people jokes. I toured with him on a series called the “Electric Tour.” We called it the “short circuit.”

I spent four to six weeks in traveling in a motorhome with “Philly.” I discovered his sincerity and a quiet kind of smart aleck.

I remember one five-hour drive on the way to Boston for a concert, where Phil performed every Beatles song I’d ever heard of! He didn’t miss a lyric.

Phil Keaggy may be the most prolific musician in the world. He never stops playing his guitar. His concerts are simply an afterglow of what he’s been doing all day!

I have watched his skill up close and felt the energy he puts into riffs that he makes look effortless. He’s almost oblivious to his phenomenal talent.

One night on the tour where I went back to see if he was coming out for an encore after an audience ovation. I found him asleep on his suitcase.

Phil Keaggy is the epitome of humility and grace. I am honored that he even takes my calls!
